  • Account information — your name, email address, and profile photo when you sign in with Google or create an account.
  • Location data — your approximate location (with your permission) to show nearby restaurants.
  • Usage data — pages visited, restaurants saved, searches performed, and interactions with the app.
  • Device data — browser type, operating system, and screen size for analytics and debugging.

2. How We Use Your Information

  • To provide and improve the DineHunter service.
  • To personalize your experience, including saved restaurants and visit history.
  • To send transactional emails (password resets, account notifications).
  • To analyze usage patterns and improve the product.

3. Information Sharing

We do not sell your personal information. We may share data with:

  • Service providers — hosting (Vercel), database (MongoDB Atlas), authentication (Firebase), and analytics tools that help us operate DineHunter.
  • Legal requirements — if required by law, subpoena, or legal process.

4. Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored securely using MongoDB Atlas with encryption at rest and in transit. Authentication is handled by Firebase Authentication and NextAuth.js. We take reasonable measures to protect your data but cannot guarantee absolute security.

5. Cookies and Local Storage

We use cookies for authentication sessions and local storage for user preferences (map theme, cached data). A service worker may cache app assets for offline use.

6. Your Rights

You can:

  • Access and update your profile information at any time.
  • Delete your account and all associated data from your profile page.
  • Revoke location permissions through your browser settings.

7. Third-Party Services

DineHunter uses OpenStreetMap data for restaurant listings, Google sign-in for authentication, and Stripe for payment processing. Each service has its own privacy policy.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date. Continued use of DineHunter after changes constitutes acceptance.
